WHAT IS A YARN OWL?

A yarn owl is a clever yarn holder for knitting or crocheting. Place yarn in the Yarn Owl, pull yarn from the center of the skein and place between the "ears" on the flap.  Snap the ears together and begin knitting!  The yarn can easily be removed and isn't trapped inside the holder until the project is finished!

The Yarn Owl has a snap-on strap that can be attached to a bag handle, a chair or stroller.  Wear it on your wrist and knit on the go!

The Yarn Owl is available in 3 sizes:

Tall - Will work with large skeins like Red Heart yarns when they are pulled from the center of the skein.

Medium - Will work with most yarns sold at independent yarn stores  Also will hold medium to large balls of yarn (not jumbo!) and works great as a project back for small items, such as socks.  To use with skeins, yarns must be pulled from the center of the skein.

Petite - Will work for small skeins like Sugar 'N Cream cotton (skeins must be pulled from the center) or small balls of yarn.

I like to work with a Yarn Owl closest to the size of my yarn.  Owning all 3 sizes is great, but if you want to start with one, I would recommend going with the tall Yarn Owl if you use the larger skeins like the Red Heart yarns; or, if you purchase most of your yarns from a yarn store, the medium/project size Owl will be perfect for you. Then you can buy the other sizes at a later time!

It is easier to see the difference in the petite and medium size when they are placed side by side.  Here are some photos that show the different sizes:
